In 2021, Midco added a point-of-presence (PoP) in the 910Telecom building in Denver, CO. As the largest and busiest carrier-neutral facility in the Rocky Mountain region, the fiber-rich location will allow Midco’s wholesale and enterprise partners to connect in and through this area.

"Adding Denver, CO, is a natural and key addition for Midco as we expand our network in the Midwest," said Pao Lo, Midco Vice President of Network Engineering. "Colocation in the 910Telecom building gives Midco numerous options that will benefit our current and future customers; from adding additional network resiliency to providing long haul opportunities for commercial services."

What is a point-of-presence?

A PoP is a demarcation point, access point or physical location where two or more networks share a connection. Oftentimes, a carrier hotel will act as a PoP, serving as a mecca for connectivity for major carriers and internet service providers, like Midco.

Where else does Midco connect?

While Midco’s fiber spans more than 10,500 miles (and growing) across five Midwestern states, we rely on several points of presence to take our connectivity further and move data faster. We now have national PoPs in:

  • Omaha, NE
  • Chicago, IL
  • Kansas City, MO
  • Minneapolis, MN
  • Denver, CO

PoP agreements ultimately allow our customers, and our customers’ customers, to seamlessly communicate with servers located in California, New York or Texas (and countless other locations) by hopping through these major sites.
