Reaching New Heights of Connection

Alpha Roofing was ready to grow. They had business coming through the door and supplies stacking up in their warehouse. A new and larger headquarters in Lawrence, KS, was on their agenda.  

“We put together a plan and talked about every single little detail and about how it would serve us and our company and what we do,” explained Yvonne Ruder, Alpha Roofing’s Chief Operating Officer. 

Everything was meticulously planned, and in 2023, the team moved into their new space that was built with their needs in mind. However, something wasn’t living up to their expectations – their internet services. 

“We were moving in, and things were still not in place,” recalled Ruder. “As we entered into our second week, I was getting desperate because everything we do is internet based. When our estimators, particularly on the commercial side, pull down blue blueprints, you have to have the bandwidth. When we're meeting in a conference room, trying to pull up items for our projects to discuss, and you cannot get a picture to load, there are so many challenges when you do not have the product that you need.”

After struggling with their connection, internet was at the top of Ruder’s mind when she attended a local Lawrence Chamber event and saw Midco Market Account Executive Kevin Romary. 

“We walked into Kevin Romary, and he said, ‘Hey, how are things going at the new building?’ And I of course told him because the only thing I could think about this entire time was how bad our internet situation was,” stated Ruder. “He got me in touch with a few other people and before you knew it, I had all the information I needed. We had decided to move forward, and then within two to three short weeks we were up and running.” 

With Midco as their partner, Alpha Roofing was able to get back on track and go through their daily workload without worrying about their connection.  

“Our services now are great,” said Ruder. “Thinking about our services is interesting, because I don't think about them at all. That’s when you know things are working. I've never had our phones go down due to loss of internet. I don't have a problem with people getting the documents they need. I always have the bandwidth I need to get done what I need accomplished. And with this many people in the building at times, that's a wonderful thing.”
