What Is Fixed Wireless?

What It Is

Midco Business Fixed Wireless Internet relies on microwave signals and antennas, but unlike satellite, your antenna won’t be pointed at the sky. Fixed wireless internet uses point-to-point signals, meaning your antenna will point at equipment connected to Midco fiber that is on top of a nearby water tower, elevator or other tall structure.

Benefits

Faster and more reliable than DSL or satellite internet, fixed wireless technology enables us to bring high-speed internet connectivity to customers in remote locations that we’re unable to reach with fiber and cable. And unlike satellite, your signal should not be affected by normal weather conditions – like clouds and rain.3

Reaching Ranchers – Wherever They Are

The location is remote and the snow is deep, but the bidding is fast and furious.

“If we didn't have fixed wireless, we'd just be limited as to what we could do," Carl Olson said. "It would be like trying to farm without having GPS – or not having a tool in your toolbox.”

As a Midco Fixed Wireless Internet customer, Olson Hereford Ranch can broadcast their bull sale online each February – reaching buyers down the road and across the country.

1 Service coverage requires connectivity to a Midco fixed wireless tower. A professional Midco technician will visit your business to locate the best signal with the intention of performing a full install. However, if we are unable to get a proper signal to your location, there will be no cost or obligation to you.

2 Services may not be available in all areas, and some restrictions apply. Contact us at 1.800.888.1300 or Midco.com/Business/Contact to check serviceability.

3 Connectivity can be periodically impacted by recent weather, such as wind or storms, which may periodically misalign antennas – as well as environmental factors, such as tree leaves growing in the spring, affecting the antenna’s signal to the tower. Contact us for help if you suspect these situations have occurred.
