Rules Activation

Rules handle calls differently, depending on who is calling. After you’ve set up some rules on the Rules tab, go to the Summary tab to apply those rules to your incoming calls.

You can use a number of existing options for rules, edit those rules, and add new rules and rule sets. You can also remove rules if you no longer need them.

To apply rules to your incoming calls

  1. On the Home dashboard under Phone Status, click Summary.
  2. Under “When I receive a call:”
    • Select Use my rules, and select the rule type: Normal, Reject Calls or Screen Calls.
    • Select the link for set up new rules to create a new rule on the Rules tab.
  3. Click Apply to save your changes.

To set up rules to forward all calls, send all calls to voicemail, reject all calls or hear the caller’s name

  1. On the Home dashboard under Phone Status, click Rules.
  2. Click the link in the sentence: “To begin start with an example set of rules.”
  3. Click Normal and then Edit.
  4. Choose the option you’d like when no rules apply.
    • To forward all calls: Select forward to, and enter the number where you want calls forwarded.
    • To send all to voicemail: Select send to voicemail.
    • To reject all calls and play a reject message: Select play a reject message and reject the call.
    • To know the caller’s name for all calls: Select ask the caller to say their name before I accept the call.
  5. Select Finish. A message will display confirming your rule specifics.
  6. Click Apply to save your changes and complete the rule setup.
  7. Go to the Summary tab to choose when different sets of rules are used.

To apply weekly schedule and special days rules to your incoming calls

  1. On the Home dashboard under Phone Status, click Summary.
  2. Under “When I receive a call,” select Handle depending on time or day. (If you have not set up a weekly schedule yet, a link will display. Click the link to set this on the Weekly Schedule tab.)
    • Select which rules (Normal, Reject Calls or Screen Calls) you’d like to apply during your specified time periods (Lunch, Weekend, Working Hours) and all other times.
    • Select which rules (Normal, Reject Calls or Screen Calls) you’d like to apply during your Special Days. If you have not set up these days yet, click the Special Days link to go to the Special Days tab. Refer to the Special Days section on page 23 for details.
  3. Click Apply to save your changes.
